Dec 15th and 16th, from 2 to 6pm

The Apartment would like to invite you to a special holiday open house. In addition to our exhibition of paintings by Brian Mulvihill and collaborative work from Luis Jacob and Noam Gonick, we will have recent editions from the Oakland art centre Creative Growth. Our holiday open house will be this coming weekend on Dec 15 & 16, from 2 to 7pm. Please join us for holiday spirits and salty snacks.

Since 1973, Creative Growth has played a significant role in increasing public interest in the artistic capabilities and achievements of people with disabilities. The Creative Growth Art Center Gallery, the first established gallery for artists with disabilities in the world, was founded in 1980 with support of the National Endowment for the Arts. Creative Growth Art Center has placed the work of its artists in private collections throughout the world including the Collection l’Art Brut in Lausanne, Switzerland; Collection l’Aracine in Lille, France; and the American Visionary Art Museum in Baltimore. Recent editions by gallery artists including William Scott, Aurie Ramirez and Dan Miller will be available with all proceeds going to benefit Creative Growth’s ongoing program. These artists have recently been featured in exhibitions at CCA Wattis Institute (San Francisco), Gavin Brown’s Enterprise (New York), Jack Hanley Gallery (Los Angeles), White Columns (New York) and have been placed in important contemporary collections including MoMA (NY) and SFMoMA.
